Are you ready for a disaster?

It’s National Preparedness Month, and I think you’ll all agree that it’s important to be as prepared as you can be in the event of a natural disaster or emergency. During the heat wave a couple of weeks ago, my power went out for 6 hours (as I hear many of yours’ did too), and it made me realize how UNprepared I am!!! At one time, I had an emergency kit stored in a big plastic bin on the side of my house. Recently, after several years (yes, years!), I decided to update it. Shockingly, the sun-baked bin had cracked and was falling apart, and most everything inside had gotten wet and was ruined. I hadn’t gotten around to creating a new kit yet, and I vowed to start again during the power outage!  A couple of other revelations I had during the outage were that I don’t know how to start our generator (that’s always been my husband’s job), and I’ve never really thought about what my cat’s needs might be in a disaster situation. Lots more to think about than just the emergency kit, right? Let’s get prepared!  🙂

Not only are you clearing your home of a little clutter (which I am all for!), you are bringing joy to someone you care about. 🙂 There are, however, some guidelines to follow when regifting.
